Two new studies show the positive influence of 3 servings of dairy a day
Two recently published articles in Obesity Research indicate that consuming three servings of milk, cheese or yogurt result in changes in fat loss.
In one study, African-American men and women were placed on a diet with a 500-calorie reduction based on caloric needs and a low-dairy diet or a high-dairy diet. The average weight loss for the high-dairy diet (three servings per day) was nearly twice that of the low-dairy group - 20 pounds versus 8.7 pounds.
The second study in weight maintenance showed that African-American men and women who consumed a high-dairy diet had shifts in their body composition, with a decrease in fat mass, an increase in lean mass and an improved metabolic profile.
