Mason Dixon Farm

Mason Dixon Farms, Inc. began as a 1948 family-owned farm consisting of 360 acres, 12 cows plus some other livestock. Through the years, fertilized with hard work, dedication and planning through several generations, Mason Dixon is now 2,900 acres, with over 2,400 milk cows.

This has been handled by the capable hands of many family members who have given unselfishly of their time and energies to not only work long hours, but to oversee, instruct, and lead the employees toward the efficient production of milk. Therefore, every operation is given careful scrutiny; analyzed for cost effectiveness and productivity.

A tour of Mason Dixon will show you innovative farming techniques, but you’ll also realize that it is still a family-owned farm from which it started.

One of the newest barns on Mason Dixon offers a leap forward in milking technology with the use of robotic milkers. This system provides freedom for the cows to be milked almost whenever they like- up to six times a day. Barns at Mason Dixon are designed for climate moderation, which is critical for consistent milk production. Heavy duck fabric “drapes” cut down the cold winter winds, while fans and sprinklers work together to cool the herd in summer’s heat.

Being environmentally conscious, Mason Dixon Farms saw an opportunity to become energy self-sufficient with the installation of a biogas digester in 1979.
