Lactaid Yogurt
Another reason to enjoy dairy can now be found in the yogurt aisle. Lactaid® yogurt is fat-free and lactose free. Plus it’s available in four flavors: blueberry, peach, strawberry and vanilla. Though the “friendly bacteria” in yogurt already do a good job breaking down natural sugar (lactose) in yogurt, lactose free yogurt offers another delicious choice for shoppers who want to limit lactose. Each six ounce cup contains 140 calories and seven grams of protein.
Lucerne Protein+ Refuel
Athletes interested in refueling after a hard workout might consider a Protein+, a new beverage available at Safeway under its private label, Lucerne. Protein+ is low-fat milk with added protein (from nonfat dry milk) and extra vitamins and minerals. The single serve refuel beverage is available in chocolate and vanilla, supplying 20 grams of protein, 300 calories and 4 grams of fat per 12 oz container. Ultra-pasteurization allows for a refrigerated shelf life of at least 30 days, if unopened.
