Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program Offers Dairy Focused Scholarships
PHILADELPHIA (February 21, 2012) – Applications are now being accepted for two new college scholarships provided by the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program. The scholarships are offered to full-time undergraduate students enrolled in the dairy science program at Delaware Valley College or the food marketing program at Saint Joseph’s University.
Scholarship criteria include academic achievement, experience in the dairy industry and/or preference to marketing dairy foods as part of the student’s undergraduate work. The scholarships are valued at $1,500 each.
“We are pleased to offer these scholarships to help support students interested in pursuing dairy-related and/or food science careers that support the dairy industry,” said Tom Croner, chairman of the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program board of directors. “This is a worth-while investment in helping to prepare the dairy and food industry leaders of the future.”
Eligible full-time undergraduate students who will be entering their sophomore through senior year in fall 2012 at Delaware Valley College or Saint Joseph’s University are encouraged to apply. Interested students can download an application from the Dairy Farming section of www.dairyspot.com or by contacting their college’s financial aid department.

Savage to Coordinate Dairy Farmers Speakers Bureau
PHILADELPHIA (July 26, 2011) – Laurie Savage, a dairy farmer and communications professional from Dickerson, Md., will serve as the new scheduler for the Dairy Farmers Speakers Bureau, a program funded through the dairy checkoff program. More than 40 dairy producers have been trained through the speakers bureau to speak to community and civic groups about their role as dairy farmers in the local community. Read more
Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association Awards Fuel Up to Play 60 Grants to Schools
PHILADELPHIA (March 28, 2011) – Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association recently awarded more than $50,133 to 28 schools to support Fuel Up to Play 60, a national in-school health and wellness program that encourages children to eat nutrient-rich food and have at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Fuel Up to Play 60 was launched by the National Dairy Council and the National Football League, in collaboration with the United States Department of Agriculture. Read more
