Checkoff-Led Research Efforts Drive Sales, Industry Change
PHILADELPHIA (November 3, 2011) – The dairy checkoff is leading innovative, industry-wide research that is laying a foundation for increased sales.
To date, $58 million has been committed toward a $100 million research plan, including $45 million from non-checkoff sources. By having others commit to dairy-related research, checkoff priorities are accomplished in a way that allows for more and bigger research platforms, done in a faster timeframe. Read more

Savage to Coordinate Dairy Farmers Speakers Bureau
PHILADELPHIA (July 26, 2011) – Laurie Savage, a dairy farmer and communications professional from Dickerson, Md., will serve as the new scheduler for the Dairy Farmers Speakers Bureau, a program funded through the dairy checkoff program. PHILADELPHIA (March 28, 2011) – Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association recently awarded more than $50,133 to 28 schools to support Fuel Up to Play 60, a national in-school health and wellness program that encourages children to eat nutrient-rich food and have at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Science Says Flavored Milk is Good for Kids, Unlike Soda
PHILADELPHIA (March 17, 2010) – According to Philadelphia Health Commissioner Donald F. Schwarz, half of the city’s children are overweight or obese, and soft-drink consumption is rising while milk consumption is falling. As proposed, the tax on sugar-sweetened beverages applies not only to nutrient-poor soft drinks and iced teas but also to a nutrient-rich beverage, flavored milk. Read more

Southern Fulton School District Receives Grant for Cool Milk and Dairy Vending
PHILADELPHIA (January 28, 2010) – Milk has a new look in Southern Fulton School District schools due to a switch to plastic bottles earlier this month. Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program on behalf of local dairy farmers presented the district with $9,000 in grants to enhance the way milk and dairy foods are sold in the high school and to start a plastic milk bottle recycling program.
