Visit Dairy Checkoff Booths at 2006 Farm Shows

CARLISLE, Pa. (December 16, 2005) - Pennsylvania's dairy checkoff groups will be exhibiting at both the 2006 Pennsylvania Farm Show on Jan. 7-14 at the Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg and the 2006 Keystone Farm Show on Jan. 10-12 at the York Fairgrounds in York.

Dairy farmers are encouraged to visit either show to learn more about how the dairy checkoff is working to increase the overall demand for milk and dairy products. Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program are jointly sponsoring Booths #5257 and 5258 in the Main Exhibition Area of the Pennsylvania Farm Show and Booth #507, Building 5 at the Keystone Farm Show, located at the York Fairgrounds.

"Dairy farmers can learn more about how the dairy checkoff is managed efficiently and effectively and how dairy checkoff is working to bolster the image of dairy products and the dairy industry," said Gordon Hoover, a Lancaster County dairy farmer and chairman of Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association's board of directors.

Dairy activities at the Pennsylvania Farm Show will include a "football toss" game and dairy stadium coloring mural. Winners in the football toss will receive special prizes, and all visitors will receive 3-A-Day™ of Dairy football tattoos and other free educational information. Visitors will have the chance to enter a drawing for a 3-A-Day of Dairy prize. Two winners will be selected at the end of the week.

All are invited to view the annual butter sculpture — created from more than 800 pounds of real butter - which will be on display in the Maclay Street lobby. The butter for the sculpture has been donated by the Land O'Lakes plant in Carlisle. And be sure to visit the Culinary Connection stage on Dairy Day, Friday, Jan. 13, where dairy recipes will be featured from 12 noon until 8 p.m.

Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program are the dairy-farmer funded, regional promotion organizations responsible for increasing milk and dairy product demand throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region. They work closely with Dairy Management, Inc.™, the national dairy promotion organization, to implement dairy promotion, education and research programs nationwide.
