PDPP and Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association Join Forces to Promote Milk in Pennsylvania
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (December 27, 2005) - Effective Jan. 1, 2006, the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program (PDPP) and Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association will join forces to promote milk in Pennsylvania, it was announced recently by the respective board chairmen.
“We are pleased to announce this new alliance with Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association,” said Karl Kroeck, chairman of the PDPP board of directors. “Both organizations have a long history of supporting dairy promotion efforts on behalf of the Commonwealth’s dairy farmers.”
According to Gordon Hoover, chairman of the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association board of directors, the new alliance is a positive step forward for Pennsylvania’s dairy industry. “This agreement allows our dairy checkoff dollars to work together more efficiently and effectively,” Hoover said. “We look forward to working with PDPP to provide a comprehensive promotion program in Pennsylvania.”
As part of the contractual agreement with PDPP, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association will provide staffing and resources to support local and national dairy checkoff programs, including school marketing, retail, dairy image, health professionals and industry relations efforts.
Since it was established as part of the state Department of Agriculture’s Commodity Marketing Program, PDPP has provided dairy promotion services in western and north central Pennsylvania. PDPP previously worked with the American Dairy Association & Dairy Council Mid East to coordinate its promotion programs.
In addition to Pennsylvania, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association represents the dairy checkoff program in southern New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, northern Virginia and Washington, D.C. Mid-Atlantic is headquartered in Philadelphia, with satellite offices in Carlisle, Pa., and Reston, Va.
Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program are the dairy-farmer funded regional promotion organizations responsible for increasing milk and dairy product demand throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region. They work closely with Dairy Management Inc.™, the national dairy promotion organization, to implement dairy promotion, education and research programs nationwide.
