Pizza Hut®, Dairy Checkoff Partnership Leads to “Cheesy Bites Pizza”
PHILADELPHIA (March 14, 2006) - “Cheesy Bites Pizza” is the latest Pizza Hut® innovative menu item developed in partnership with the dairy checkoff to help increase cheese category sales. The new large-sized pizza offers customers 28 cheese-filled bites that form the crust edge. The unique design gives pizza lovers an added dimension of flavor and fun from the nation’s No. 1 pizza chain.
Pizza Hut introduced “Cheesy Bites Pizza” one week before the Super Bowl, continuing its tradition of releasing new pizzas just in time for the busiest pizza-selling day of the year. “Cheesy Bites Pizza” will be available for a limited time at nearly 6,600 Pizza Hut stores nationwide.
Dairy producers, through their national dairy checkoff investment, provided culinary and other marketing assistance valued at roughly $50,000 to help develop the “Cheesy Bites Pizza.” Meanwhile, Pizza Hut invested nearly $50 million in a marketing campaign to support the launch.
The Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program, Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and American Dairy Association & Dairy Council, Inc. are the local planning and management organizations funded by dairy farmer checkoff dollars. They work closely with Dairy Management Inc.™ and are responsible for increasing demand for U.S. produced dairy products on behalf of area dairy farmers.
