Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association Re-Elects Officers
PHILADELPHIA (April 12, 2006) - The Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association board of directors recently elected officers for the 2006 term. Gordon Hoover of Gap, Pa., was re-elected chairman of the 15-member board.
“I believe the dairy checkoff offers farmers a long-term value for their promotion investment,” Hoover said. “Since the checkoff began, per capita total dairy consumption has increased by more than 13 percent. Today, the average person consumes 592 pounds of dairy products on a total solids basis, compared to 522 pounds when the checkoff began in 1983.”
Also re-elected as Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association officers were: David Weitzer, Poolesville, Md., vice chairman; Jeff Moore, Centerville, Md., secretary; and Jerrel Heatwole, Greenwood, Del., treasurer.
Three new members were seated on the board as part of Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association’s new alliance with the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program. They are Karl Kroeck, Knoxville, Tom Croner, Berlin, and James Lydic, Marion Center. Patricia Purcell serves as the organization’s chief executive officer.
The board also welcomed Janet Shank Stiles of Boonsboro, Md., as a new member. Stiles, a member of Maryland and Virginia Milk Producer’s Cooperative, replaces John “Jack” Hardesty of Berryville, Va., who recently retired from the board.
