Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association Welcomes Three New Staff Members

PHILADELPHIA (December 11, 2006) - Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association is pleased to welcome Janette Carpentier, Betty Brdar and Jessica Pomraning as new staff members.

As vice president of school marketing, Janette Carpentier will lead Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association’s school marketing team in driving dairy sales in schools and through other foodservice channels.

A resident of Toms River, N.J., Carpentier received a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from the University of Wisconsin and earned a master’s degree in organizational management at the University of Phoenix. She also completed coursework in graduate nutritional studies at the University of Arizona.

Most recently Carpentier served as director of culinary initiatives with Chartwells education division after serving as district manager on both the east and west coasts. She also worked as director of foodservice at Tanque Verde School District in Arizona and as purchasing manager at the University of Arizona.

Throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, Carpentier will encourage schools to offer milk in eight-ounce resealable plastic bottles as part of the New Look of School Milk program. She also will work with foodservice management companies that contract with colleges, universities and healthcare facilities to improve the dining experience.

With a solid sales and marketing background in associations and foodservice, Betty Brdar joins the school marketing team as a school marketing manager.

Brdar will serve as a resource for teachers, school nurses and school district foodservice directors in Pittsburgh and southwestern Pennsylvania. Tasked with increasing dairy sales in schools through nutrition education and dairy promotion programming, Brdar will identify opportunities for dairy marketing in schools, develop partnerships, and manage school accounts.

Brdar was an associate manager for the American Diabetes Association and an account executive at Sysco Foods Inc. before joining Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association. A native of Acme, Pa., Brdar received a bachelor’s degree in recreation from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania.

Jessica Pomraning will work with the communications and school marketing teams as public relations manager to develop, coordinate and implement communications programs for Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association. In addition to creating news releases, brochures, fact sheets, advertisements and the annual report, she will manage parts of the association’s Web site, www.dairyspot.com, and will attend promotional events.

Prior to joining Mid-Atlantic, Pomraning served as the member information services and communication specialist for Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative Association Inc., based in Reston, Va.

Pomraning grew up on a Delta, Pa., dairy farm and served as York County Dairy Princess. She graduated from Clarion University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in communication with a minor in speech communication.
