Flavored Milk the Focus at 2007 Pennsylvania and Keystone Farm Shows
PHILADELPHIA (December 11, 2006) - Visit Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program, Pennsylvania’s dairy checkoff groups, at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Jan. 6-13 and at the Keystone Farm Show Jan. 9-11 to learn how to “Make a Splash with Flavored Milk.”
“Studies show children drink more milk when it’s offered in appealing flavors and attractive packaging,” said Gordon Hoover, a Lancaster County dairy farmer and chairman of Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association. “This year’s booth will reinforce milk’s health benefits to the thousands of parents, teachers and school administrators who visit these shows each year. The New Look of School Milk program is just one way the dairy checkoff is being used to create dairy demand.”
This year’s dairy promotion booths have been revamped to feature giant inflatable single-serve plastic bottles of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla milk to promote the New Look of School Milk program. At the Pennsylvania Farm Show, children can try their hand at rounding up a “bottle” of flavored milk in a new ring toss game to win a “got flavored milk?” wristband. All visitors have the opportunity to receive a temporary flavored milk tattoo and to pick up educational materials.
Dairy farmers are encouraged to visit the booth at either show to learn how the dairy checkoff is working to increase the overall demand for milk and dairy products. Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program are jointly sponsoring Booths #5257 and #5258 in the Main Exhibition Area of the Pennsylvania Farm Show and Booth #507, Building 5, at the Keystone Farm Show, located at the York Fairgrounds. Dairy farmers can redeem their postcard to receive a “Make a Splash with Flavored Milk” tote bag.
While at the Pennsylvania Farm Show, be sure to visit the 2007 butter sculpture in its new location in the Main Hall near the Maclay Street lobby. Crafted from 800 pounds of butter donated by the Land O’Lakes plant in Carlisle, Pa., the sculpture will be on display throughout the show. Catch a dairy recipe demonstration on the Culinary Connection stage during Dairy Day at the Pennsylvania Farm Show from 12 noon to 6 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 12.
Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program are the dairy-farmer funded, regional promotion organizations responsible for increasing milk demand throughout Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic region.
