Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association Re-Elects Officers
PHILADELPHIA (February 27, 2007) – The Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association board of directors recently elected officers for the 2007 term. Gordon Hoover of Gap, Pa., was re-elected chairman of the 15-member board.
“I believe the dairy checkoff offers farmers a long-term value for their promotion investment,” Hoover said. “Since the checkoff began, per capita total dairy consumption has increased by more than 13 percent. Today, the average person consumes 593 pounds of dairy products on a total solids basis, compared to 522 pounds when the checkoff began in 1983.”
Also re-elected as Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association officers were: David Weitzer, Poolesville, Md., vice chairman; Jeff Moore, Centerville, Md., secretary; and Jerrel Heatwole, Greenwood, Del., treasurer.
The dairy checkoff is leading dairy product marketing by developing food industry partnerships to increase demand; leveraging nutrition science that favorably positions dairy as part of a healthy diet; building consumer awareness of dairy products through advertising, retail and public relations programs; and protecting and building the image of dairy products and the dairy industry through ongoing issues and crisis management programs.
Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association is the dairy-farmer funded regional promotion organization responsible for increasing milk and dairy product demand throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. They work closely with Dairy Management Inc.™, the national dairy promotion organization, to implement dairy promotion, education and research programs locally.
