Refuel on the Road with 3-A-Day™ of Dairy
PHILADELPHIA (September 25, 2007) – Low on fuel? Most Americans do not get the recommended three servings of dairy recommended by the Dietary Guidelines. A new billboard on the Pennsylvania Turnpike reminds motorists to get milk, cheese and yogurt before their bodies hit “E” or empty.
The billboard, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program (PDPP), encourages travelers to refuel with 3-A-Day™ of Dairy at the next exit. It can be seen at mile marker 118 near the Somerset interchange.
“Posting our 3-A-Day of Dairy message on the Pennsylvania Turnpike is a great way to encourage dairy consumption,” said Tom Croner, a Somerset County dairy farmer and PDPP chairman. “Every day more than 300,000 people travel across the Commonwealth and they might be encouraged by our message to reach for an extra glass of milk or cheese cube.”
The 3-A-Day of Dairy program is designed to help make Americans aware of the health benefits of dairy foods and motivate them to consume three servings a day. Enjoying three servings of milk, cheese or yogurt is a deliciously easy way to help families build stronger bones and healthier bodies.
Pennsylvania Dairy Promotion Program is a local planning and management organization funded by dairy farmer checkoff dollars. It works closely with Dairy Management Inc. ™ and is responsible for increasing demand for U.S.-produced dairy products on behalf of Pennsylvania’s dairy farmers.
