Scholar Athlete of the Week Wins with Dairy

3-A-Day Grant Winners

Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association is collaborating with ESPN Radio 1250 in Pittsburgh and the U.S. Army, the title sponsor, during the 2008-2009 school year to recognize high school athletes in southwestern Pennsylvania. Each week, students, faculty, family and the community can log on to ESPN radio’s Web site and vote for one of the nominated athletes. Anyone age 13 and over can nominate a varsity athlete, and to be eligible to participate in the program, the student athlete must have at least a 2.5 grade point average and have no disciplinary record.

Each athlete of the week receives a plaque and a “got milk?®” backpack and is recognized at a student assembly or pep rally. Representatives from ESPN, the U.S. Army and Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association attend the weekly event. In addition, ESPN recognizes the Army Athlete of the Week on its Web site. At the end of the school year, ESPN will host an award ceremony, inviting the winners and announcing the Athlete of the Year.

Visit the ESPN Radio 1250 Web site to view the weekly winners.
