Dana Gollotto, director of food service for Cherry Hill School District in Cherry Hill, N.J., decided it was time for a change to the school’s milk program. In February 2007, all of the schools converted to the use of 8-ounce, single-serve, plastic milk bottles on the meal line.
According to Gollotto, the students love the milk in the plastic bottles, and more students are drinking milk than ever before. Even the teachers are choosing the milk in plastic bottles over other beverage options. Having adopted the New Look of School Milk, Cherry Hill School District received a New Look of School Milk Merchandising Grant to help purchase retail-style, glass door merchandisers with cow spot graphics and “got milk?®” signage.
The milk merchandisers will ensure that the new milk bottles are displayed effectively for maximum impact. “We are excited about getting the cow graphics coolers,” Gollotto said. “The new coolers will add to the presentation of the 8-ounce milk in plastic bottles.”
Cherry Hill School District is also planning to expand its dairy offerings by placing dairy vending machines in schools for the start of the 2007-2008 school year.
