Fuel Up to Play 60

Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and the National Dairy Council® have joined with the National Football League to help students eat right and stay active with Fuel Up to Play 60.

During the 2009-10 school year, more than 60,000 schools nationwide joined Fuel Up to Play 60 to increase student access to nutrient-rich foods and physical activity. Fuel Up to Play 60 is a school-based program, designed around one or more adult program advisors and students working together to improve school wellness. The program is unique as it empowers students in grades 4 to 10 to take ownership in making healthy eating and physical activity changes for themselves, their classmates and their school.

Guide your students to take action during the 2010-11 school year.

  • Join Fuel Up to Play 60 and request your school’s free 2010-11 Wellness Kit. If someone has ordered the kit for your school, enroll for the online resources.
  • Access your personal dashboard and follow your school's progress. Who else has joined Fuel Up to Play 60? Does your school have a Program Advisor? If not, then sign up to be a Program Advisor.
  • Get ready for the 2010-2011 school year. The more planning you do in the “preseason,” the quicker your school can get started in the fall!

The United States Department of Agriculture has joined the Fuel Up to Play 60 team. In addition, a number of health and nutrition organizations support Fuel Up to Play 60: Action for Healthy Kids, American Academy of Family Physicians, American Academy of Pediatrics, American Dietetic Association, National Hispanic Medical Association, National Medical Association and the School Nutrition Association.

What Is Your School’s Game Plan?

Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association wants to know what your school is doing to encourage your students to "fuel up" with healthier foods and to "get up and play" for 60 minutes a day. What is your game plan?

Tell us how your school is implementing Fuel Up to Play 60. How did your Student Team make your school a healthier place? Which Healthy Eating Program and Physical Activity Program did your Student Team select? How did your Student Team engage the entire student body? Tell us your story and you could receive a gift card to purchase signage to enhance your school environment.
