Trinity Area School District Sports a New Look

When Tom Sabol, food service director, Trinity Area School District, Washington, Pa., switched to milk packaged in 8-ounce plastic bottles, he was mildly skeptical about the claim that milk consumption would increase. Sabol admits that he has seen more students choosing milk.

In addition to milk’s new look, Trinity Area School District received a grant from Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association to enhance its cafeteria. Sabol purchased new cashier stands and a menu board. The colorful cashier stands inspired Christy Kirkwood, facilities/food service secretary, to paint the doors in the cafeteria in bright colors. As an added attraction, the department displays students’ artwork on the doors.

Trinity High School also received a vending grant from Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association and now offers 100 percent dairy vending. The special needs students who stock the machine labeled it “The Dairy Delight Store.” Students in the tech department produced a DVD showcasing the students at work.
